Hello all, I’m, a lurker here for about 3 months and I need some help. I feel like this is just about the last thing I would ever do, ask total and complete strangers, some whom can be ruthless, about a matter so close to me. That said, I really feel like I don’t have a lot of different avenues left to me. My friends all think I should be gone, my parents want me out of this relationship and her mother literally begs me to stay and I am caught in the middle. I try to make this story short. I am in a relationship with a manic depressive. We have been together for 5 years, should have been married two years ago but she ed off the wedding about a month before the event because she was getting panic attics. She shaved her head and put herself in the hospital with an overdose of Xanax. We lived together for 3 years but I asked her to move out in December when she fell into a depression and decided to paint my downstairs bedroom, kitchen and bathroom dark red to “reflect” her mood. She goes on and off of her medication. When she manages to stay on, she is an amazing woman. Bright, beautiful as the day is, with an amazing personality and creativity. She has worked for several motion picture companies in the past as a staff writer, rewriter etc and is well regarded but due to her illness has a hard time holding onto work. When she goes off, you the actions above, sometimes worse. Six weeks ago she lost another job. They wouldn’t come right out and say that it’s because she is fruity as a nut cake, but that is the root cause. She feels that she can’t be creative when she is on medication, so she goes off, then she relapses. They fired her because she had missed 4 deliverables and actually put production of a show behind schedule (and it’s making even more work for her producer than if it had been live action), so this is a setback for her. I am in a moderately senior position at a studio in Burbank and have tried to get her some side contract work etc, but she blows it by being flaky and unaccountable. This behavior is starting to make me look bad and I am refusing to help her find work anymore.
